Dambulla Cave Temple complex, another World Heritage Site dating back to 1st century BC. Pollonnaruwa the medieval capital of Sri Lanka is  a World Heritage Site.  See ancient palaces, temples and the magnificent rainwater reservoir Parakrama Samudraya (the sea of Parakrama) built by King Parakramabahu the Great (1164-1196AD). Anuradhapura dating back to the 4th century BC.  is a World Heritage Site in the North Central Province.  View the magnificent stupas and historical monuments over 1000 - 2000 years old, and the amazing irrigation works of an ancient civilization.
